Name: D. Bachelor Hair Dye
Notes: Circa 1850. This is one of the most desirable hair bottle products known and is extremely rare. Daniel Batchelor was born in England in 1818 and came to Utica around 1839. He began as a hairdresser and ran a business selling hair dyes, perfumes and fancy goods at an address of 130 Genesee St in the 1840s. Around 1856 Daniel also began selling seeds and agricultural products at the well known Batchelor Seed Store.

Name: Brainard’s Crystal Toilet Wash
Notes: Circa 1880’s -1890’s. F. L. Brainard listed as proprietor & manufacturer of Brainards Crystal Toilet Wash which was market as a product that can be used on the skin to cure all diseases of the skin. Some of the diseases it listed were freckles, tans, mothpatches, sun burn etc. leaving skin white as snow. F.L. Brainard was listed on the Federal Census in 1880 as an address of 41 Steuben St. in 1880.
